Norfolk, Va. - Facing the No. 1 team in the country in the University of Virginia, the Old Dominion University men's tennis team had a rough outing Saturday afternoon, falling to the Cavaliers 7-0 at the Boyd Tinsley Courts at the Boar's Head Sports Club in Charlottesville.
With the No. 1 and No. 19 ranked doubles teams, the Cavaliers cruised to victories in all three doubles matches winning 8-5, 8-3 and 8-6.
In singles play the Monarchs didn't fair much better as they dropped all six matches in straight sets. Senior Alex Seleznev battled Somdev Devvarman the top ranked men's player in the country at No. 1, where he dropped a close first set 6-4 before falling 6-1 in the second frame.
The Monarchs return to the court Sunday afternoon when they host North Carolina State at 1 p.m.
