Old Dominion Takes Care of No. 22 Purdue, 66-53

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, U.S. Virgin Islands (AP) - Senior guard T.J. Jordan (Portsmouth, Va.) scored 17 points to lead Old Dominion to a 66-53 victory over No. 22(AP)/20 (USA Today) Purdue on Sunday in the Paradise Jam, in the Lady Monarchs' third and final game of the tournament to claim fifth place.

Jordan scored 10 of her points in the second half and had five rebounds for the Lady Monarchs. Junior Tiffany Green (Chesapeake, Va.) rebounded from her 0-10 performance from the floor in Saturday's contest with No. 4 Stanford to rebound with 11 points and seven rebounds from against the Boilermakers.

Old Dominion (4-2) took control in the second half with 15 straight points to break a tie and take a 44-29 lead with 9:30 to play.

The run, which ended a 13-0 scoring stretch for the Boilermakers, was keyed by a 3-pointer from Jordan and two layups from Green.

Old Dominion, coming off loses the previous two days to No. 2 Connecticut and No. 4 Stanford, shot 45 percent from the floor while holding the Boilermakers to 34 percent.

Lakisha Freeman led Purdue (2-3) with 18 points. Danielle Campbell added 17 points and four rebounds.

The Lady Monarchs improved to 5-0 all-time against the Boilermakers, which also include two NCAA second rounds victories in 1997 and 2002.

The victory was also the first over a ranked opponent in three consecutive tries. Old Dominion's last win over a ranked foe was gainst #22/25 James Madison, 63-57, last season back on February 25th.

The Old Dominion women's basketball team returns home, putting its 12-game home win streak on the line, when they host Penn State on Thursday, November 29th at 7:00 p.m. at the Ted Constant Convocation Center.
