ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Lady Monarch sailors are in 5th place after 10 races on day one of the Navy Fall Women's Regatta. Sophomore Katrina Williams was skipper in A division with junior crew Alissa Ayres and the two finished in 7th. The C division sailor is leading the division with 24 points.
In C division, the Lady Monarch sailor finished 14 points ahead of second place with her 24 point effort. She finished out of the top three only once in the ten races finished on the first day. She won three races and finished second in five.
In A division, Williams and Ayres finished in 7th place with 83 points, just 26 out of the top five. The two finished among the top ten in seven races and as high as second place on Saturday.
THe B division boat sailed to a 10th place effort to keep help ODU stay in contention of a top five finish. Discounting two disqualifications in the final two races of the day, the B division boat finished in the top ten in every race of the day.
ODU's 208 team points are just one behind the fourth place Yale team. The Lady Monarchs will look to move up as they finish the regatta on Sunday.
