NORFOLK, VA-- The ODU Soccer Monarchs (3-4-1)begin CAALeague play this weekend with a pair of contests.ODU hosts Northeastern (2-5) Friday night at 7 p.m. andthree-time defending league champion Hofstra (1-4-2) onSunday at 1 p.m.
The Monarchs are led in scoring by Trevor Banks with two goals andone assist, followed by freshman T.J. Beaulieu with two goals.Daniel Haywood leads the team with three assists. In goal,Evan Newton has a 0.93 goals against average.
Northeastern is led by Ahmed Talaat with three goals, while GregKilkenny has four assists andone goal. Hofstra is led by JohannesGrahn leads the Pride with four goals, while Rob Youhill hadthree assists.
ODU and Hofstra met in the 2004 and 2005 CAA finals. The seriesis tied at 5-5-1. ODU leads the series with Northeastern, 2-1.
