NORFOLK, VA-- Four Monarchs broke into double figures led by JonathanAdams and red-shirt freshman Frank Hassell as Old Dominion won its exhbition opener over Mount Olive College, 83-53. Gerald Lee aded 12 and Sam Harris scored 10. Freshman Ben Finney scord nine and hauled down a team high seven boards.
ODU led by three at halftime, 29-26, but went on a 27-12 run thefirst 10 minutes of the second half to push the lead to 57-42 with10:46 remaining.
ODU outrebounded Mt. Olive, 47-35 and forced them into 15 turnoverswhile the Monarchs committed only ten. Sam Harris blocked three shots andpulled down six rebounds. Abdi Lidonde also hauled down six boards.
Gerald Lee was a perfect nine-for-nine from the free throw line, whileJonathan Adams was six -for-nine from the floor, including twomonster dunks.
Four Monarchs, Gerald Lee, Darius James, brian Henderrson and Abdi Lidonde dished out four assists each.
Mout Olive was led by Brandon Streeter with 13 points and eight rebounds.Kendrick Easley added nine points.
ODU shot .457 (28-59) from the floor, while Mout Olive was .308 (20-65).ODU returns to action on Monday with one more exhibition game againstShepherd University.
