Box Score

ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Lady Monarchs suffered a tough 0-3 loss to the Panthers of Georgia State University (9-8-0, 4-6-0). The loss drops ODU to 3-6-1 in the conference and 7-7-2 overall. Junior forward Jenni Purdum led the offensive attack with four shots, three on-goal. Fellow junior Janna Pearson also took four shots for the Lady Monarchs.

It was the two leaders of the Panthers that would make the difference, Nathalie Carter and Kay Harbrueger, for the win. Carter, the team leader in goals scored twice off assists from Harbrueger, who scored once unassisted. ODU stifled much of the Georgia State attack allowing just four shots from everyone else.

Ten of the eleven Panther shots were on goal, testing the Monarch keepers. Colby Owen was in goal for the first half, saving four shots and allowing two goals. Lauren Tupman entered in the second half and saved two shots, allowing one goal.

The second half for the Lady Monarchs saw a shift in offensive intensity, as ODU took 8 shots and held the Panthers to just three in the frame. Jenni Purdum would put three shots on-goal in the second half, including a header saved by a defender, a shot late in the game that a defender saved and the third with under a minute remaning, but the keeper would make the save.

Heidi Blankenship played the whole 90 in goal for her second shutout on the season. She saved six shots on the game.

ODU wraps up the 2007 regular season with a home game against William & Mary Thursday, November 1 at 7:00 pm. The game will be senior night for ODU and admission is free for all students with student ID's.
