NORFOLK, VA--Senior A.J. Kulp scored a goal and assisted another as the Old Dominion University Soccer Monarchs (10-5-1 /7-1) defeated Georgia State (4-10-1/ 1-7),. 5-0 Sunday afternoon in the final regular regular season home game for seniors Kulp,David Horst, Yomby William and Justin Vaughter. ODU outshot the Panthers, 27-4.
Kulp put the Monarchs on the board with about 13 minutes left in the first half.Dylan Montambo gave ODU a 2-0 lead three minutes later with an unassisted goal.
In the second half Steffen Sommerstad got a pass from Kulp to make it 3-0 andAmbane Emmanuel then scored on a break-a-way with 36 minutes remaining. The Monarchs final goal was by junior Trevor Banks as he headed in a pass from Ollie Lutton. Kulp leads the team with six assists and is second to Trevor Banks in scoringwith 12 points. Banks leads the team with 15 points and six goals.
Georgia State goalkeeper Filipe Carvalho made seven saves including one on Trevor Banks' penalty kick in the first half. ODU goalkeeper Evan Newton now hasseven shutouts on the season and a 0.66 goals against average.
ODU's final three regular season games are on the road beginning next FridayNight at Delaware, then next Sunday as League leader Drexel.
