Monarchs Host 28th Seascape Collegiate Tournament In Kitty Hawk, NC

NORFOLK, VA-- The Old Dominion University Monarch golfers will host the28th annual Seascape Collegiate Golf Tournament Oct. 29 and 30 at theSeascape Golf Course in Kitty Hawk, NC. There will be 21 teams in thisyear's field.

Joining the Monarchs in the field are: Binghamton, Campbell, Davidson,Delaware, Drexel, Elon, George Mason, George Washington, Hartford,James Madison, Liberty, Prineton, Radford, Richmond, Samford, South Carolina-Upstate, St. Bonaventure, St. Joseph's, Winthrop and Wofford.

The Monarchs strong squad are led by sophomore Eric Onesi, the 2007CAA Rookie of the Year. Onesi has a 71.4 stroke average thus far thisseason. He won the Mid-Pines Tournament and took second at Duke.

All-CAA selection Stan Guererro has a 72.3 stroke average. The seniorplaced third at Hartford and seventh at VCU.

Defending CAA Champion John Murphy is at 72.7 with two second placefinishes this fall at Mid Pines and Hartford. Jeffrey Long is at73.1 with a tenth place finish at Hartford and 19th at Duke, whilenewcomer Seth Norman is at 74.0 with a tenth at Hartford.

As a team, ODU has had four top ten finishes. The Monarchs won theHartford Tournament, took second at Mid Pines and sixth at Duke alongwith a tenth place finish at VCU's tournament.

Thus far this fall, John Murphy and Eric Onesi have the best round.Onesi shot a 66 in the final round of Mid Pines to help him win thatevent, while Murphy shot a 66 in the second round at Mid Pines.Onesi also has had the best three-round score of 201 at Mid Pines,followed by a 207 at Duke. John Murphy shot a 208 at Mid Pines,Stan Guerro a 212 at VCU,with Jeffrey Long at 216 at Duke and John Murphy with a 216 at Hartford.

Campbell is the defending tournament champion led by senior FredericSundberg who placed fourth last year. Winthrop was third last year andare led by Pete Alminas who tied for ninth. The Monarchs finished fifthin last year's event as Eric Onesi tied for second and Matthew Watsontied for sixth.

This is ODU's final Fall tournament.
