NORFOLK, VA--The Old Dominion University Monarchs pickedto finish third in the Colonial Athletic Association pre-season poll rank tenthin the COLLEGIATEINSIDER.COM Mid-Major Top 25.
Monarch fans can get a glimpse of the 2007-08 squad Sunday in the annualBlue-white scrimmage at 2 p.m. in the Constant Center.
ODU is one of three CAA teams ranked in the top ten. VCU is fifth,George Mason ninth, while Drexel is 25th.
The 13-man Monarch roster is led by seniors Brian Henderson (9.4 ppg),Brandon Johnson (8.3 ppg), Abdi Lidonde (4.6 ppg), and 7-3 center Sam Harris (1.7 ppg/ 1.2 rpg) along with sophomore center-forward Gerald Lee (4.2 ppg./3.3 rpg), junior forward Jonathan Adams (3.4 ppg/3.0 rpg), and sophomore guard Marsharee Neely(1.4 ppg).
ODU newcomers include red-shirt forwards Keyon Carter (6-8, F, Riviera Beach, Fl.) and Frank Hassell (6-8, F, Chesapeake, VA.), along with freshmen Ben Finney (6-5, F, Portsmouth, Va.), Etoile Imama (6-3, G, Montreal, Canada), Kent Bazemore (6-5 G-F,Windsor, NC.), and Darius James (6-1,G, Virginia Beach, Va.)
ODU's first exhibition game will be Wednesday, Oct. 31 against Mt. OliveCollege at 6 p.m. in the Constant Center.
