Monarchs Finish 5th at Hoyt Trophy Regatta

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Old Dominion finished in 5th place overall at the Hoyt Trophy Regatta this weekend in Rhode Island. Bobby Noonan and Jaclyn Finney were only able to get two races finished in A division, but finished strong for second in the division. The tandem finished just two points behind the first place Boston College boat.

Noonan and Finney sailed to third place in both races on Sunday, for 47 total points and second place in the division. On the weekend, the pair finished out of the top ten in just one race and were among the top five in seven of the ten races.

In B division, Michael Brown sailed with Ashley Brusso and Mike Komar to 11th place with two top ten finishes on the second day. The 109 points in B division was just nine points back of the top ten boats in B division.

The team totaled 156 points in the regatta, just one point back of fourth place overall. Boston College won the Hoyt Trophy, followed by Brown, Hobart & William Smith, and St. Mary's College in front of ODU.

It was the second top five finish of the weekend for the ODU co-ed sailors.
