ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The co-ed sailing team for Old Dominion picked up two spots at the MAISA Open on Sunday, for a top five finish at the regatta. Sophomore skipper Alan Alkins and sophomore crew Amanda Rendall finished among the top eight in all four races in B division, including a win, to pace ODU on the second day of the regatta.

Not including one disqualification on day one, the ODU team did not finish out of the top eight boats in either division all weekend.

The B division pair made a huge move up the leaderboard on the second day, moving up four places from 10th to 6th place. They won a race on day two as well as finishing third once.

Thomas O'Bryan and Kristen Cumming jumped from 6th to 5th place with their consistency on day two. The tandem, like Alkins and Rendall, finished in the top five in two races on Sunday.

The team finished with 99 points for the fifth place finish. In front of the Monarchs finished St. Mary's, Washington College, Navy and Hobart & William Smith, in that order. It was the second victory in Maryland for St. Mary's this weekend, who earned a bid to the Sloops National Championship earlier in the day.
