Norfolk, Va. - Sunday was the final day of the Hampton Roads Collegiate Invitational and the hosts Monarchs of ODU closed out the tournament by winning the men's doubles competition in the A bracket.
In what was an all ODU final, the team of Eidy Igarashi and Alex Seleznev defeated teammates Dan Couzens and Rodrigo Souza, 8-3 in the championship match of the men's A doubles bracket.
Individually, Seleznev was also looking to win the singles championship of the A1 division, but he fell in a three-set battle to Mustafa Genscoy of George Washington, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
On the women's side, the Lady Monarch duo of Barbara Costa and Charleen Haarhoff also made an appearance in the championship match of the A doubles bracket. However, they fell 8-3 to William & Mary's tandem of Ragini Acharya and Magdalena Bresson.
