ODU Basketball Players Read Book To Norfolk And Portsmouth Elementary School Students To Kick Off Second Annual Monarch Reading Program

NORFOLK, Va. -- Student-athletes from Old Dominion University's Monarch and Lady Monarch Basketball teams will visit five area elementary schools, sharing their favorite children's book with students, to kick off the Monarch Reading Program with Norfolk and Portsmouth Public Elementary Schools.

ODU student-athletes will visit the following schools:

10:00 a.m.:
Richard Bowling Elem. School - Abdi Lidonde
Chesterfield Academy - Brian Henderson & Jazzmin Walters
Brighton Elem. School - Tiffany Green & TJ Jordan

10:30 a.m.:
Coleman Place Elem. School - Kent Bazemore
Lindenwood Elem. School - Etoile Imama

In partnership with Norfolk and Portsmouth Public Schools, 30,000 official bookmarks will be distributed to students in each public elementary school in the Norfolk and Portsmouth. Every child who reads four or more books during the six-week program will receive a free ticket to a Monarchs or Lady Monarchs home basketball game, where they will be recognized at halftime.
