NORFOLK, Va. - Head coach Wendy Larry announced the addition of junior college transfer Dawn Coleman (Queen, N.Y.) to the 2007-08 women's basketball roster. Coleman will join Sierra Little (Greensboro, N.C.), Alena Voronia (Yekaterinberg, Russia), Shadasia Green (Patterson, N.J.), and Jasmine Parker (Norfolk, Va.) as the newcomers to the Lady Monarch family.
Coleman, a 5-9 junior guard, transferred from Monroe Community College where she averaged 11.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game last season. In her first season, she helped the Lady Tribunes capture their third straight national title and fourth in six years. The Lady Tribunes captured a 31-1 record as they became the first women's team in junior college history to win the Division I title a year after winning the D-II championship. It was Monroe CC's 10th straight Region III championship. The following year, Coleman helped guide Monroe CC to a seventh place finish at the NJCAA Division I with a 30-3 record.
