PARADISE ISLAND, BAHAMAS -- Sophomore guard Marsharee Neely scored a game high 18 points to lead Old Dominion University's men's basketball team to a 84-50 victory over the Guatemalan National team Monday. ODU completes the tour at 3-0.
ODU started slow with Guatemala leading after the first period, 13-11. Neely scored four straight points and ODU took the lead for good at 23-20 with 4:00 left in the second quarter and bolted to a 35-23 halftime lead. ODU would outscore the Guatemalans, 49-27 in the second half.
Every Monarch scored on the day. Freshman Ben Finney added 12 points, while freshman Keyon Carter and junior Jonathon Adams each hauled in eight rebounds. Sam Harris and Darius James each pulled down seven boards as ODU outrebounded the Guatemalans, 53-29.
ODU shot .481 (37-77) from the floor, .523 (21-38) in the second half. Finney led with four steals and Brandon Johnson led ODU with eight assists.
Walter Morales led Guatemala with 17 points and Juan Triguero added ten boards.
