KING'S POINT, N.Y. -- The Old Dominion sailing team finished strong on day two of the Nevins Trophy Regatta in New York to come away with a ninth place finish. Juniors Bobby Noonan and Alissa Ayres sailed to a seventh place finish in A division to help pace the team.
Noonan and Ayres were just four points back of the top five in A division and sailed a very consistent regatta. The two finished either first or second in five races and were in the top ten in nine of the 15 races.
In B division, skipper Michael Collins paired with Jaci Finney and Michael Komar en route to a 9th place finish. The B division boat finished with 140 points and nine top ten finishes to mirror the efforts of the A division team.
Sophomore Kevin Shockey sailed singlehanded in C division to round out the scoring for ODU. He finished just two points out of the top ten with 156 points and a 12th place effort. He finished in the top ten in seven of the 15 races in C division.
