LYNCHBURG, VA--Old Dominion University Lady Monarchs (3-1-1)defeated Liberty (0-4), 4-0 Saturday evening as Shavon Knight (Waldorf, MD.)scored two goals and Janna Pearson (Haymarket, VA.) had two assists.
The Lady Monarchs open the scoring 10:15 into the match when Janna Pearson gathered a rebound off a missed shot and fed Elizabeth Brewster (Clifton, VA.) for a 1-0 lead. With 31 seconds left in the first half, Caroline Brown (Lansdale, PA.) headed in Pearson's corner kick to give the Lady Monarchs a 2-0 halftime lead.
Knight scored both of her goals in the second half along with Lisa McKenzie(Inverness, Scotland). ODU dominated with an 20-10 shot lead, including 13 shots on goal. Knight now leads the team with five goals, followed by McKenzie with three.
ODU returns to action on Friday when they travel to Fairleigh Dickinson fora 3 p.m. match.
