RALEIGH, N.C. -- Junior goalkeeper Lauren Tupman notched a career high in saves with 13 and the Wolfpack was able to withstand a barrage of Lady Monarch shots late in the game for a 1-1 tie on Thursday. Junior Elizabeth Brewster scored the goal for Old Dominion and Tupman saw her season record run to 2-1-1 with the tie. With the tie, N.C. State runs its record to 2-1-2.

The two teams would combine for 34 shots, including 21 on goal. The Lady Monarchs provided a late surge by maintaining possession late in the second half and much of the overtime periods, firing 10 shots in the final 65 minutes.

N.C. State provided nearly as many shots in this game as the Lady Monarchs had seen all season (19 for NCSU/23 for all other opponents). The junior keeper was up for the task, however, and saved 13 of 14 shots on goal.

The only scoring in the game would come in the 22nd and 23rd minutes as Lizzy Brewster put ODU in front with an unassisted goal at 21:03 and NCSU's Nadia Aboulhosn followed by netting her own unassisted goal at 22:18. It was Brewster's first goal of the 2007 season.

The Lady Monarchs just missed on a number of occasions, with several shots deflecting off the cross bar.

The game was physical, with each team receiving one yellow card, including ODU forward Shavon Knight's first of the season. Katie Ruiz was nailed with the caution for the Wolfpack. The teams were called for a combined 36 fouls.

Old Dominion stays on the road with a game at Liberty University scheduled for Saturday, September 15. Kick-off is set for 6:00 pm.
