NORFOLK, VA -- The Old Dominion women's sailing team is ranked 14th in the pre-season poll released by Sailing World. The 2006 team saw two women qualify for the ICSA Singlehanded Championship. The women's team also qualified for the ICSA Women's Dinghy Championship in the spring. The co-ed team is currently receiving votes in the rankings.
The 2007 team returns rising sophomore National Singlehanded Qualifier Katrina Williams as well as the majority of a vastly experienced female team. Juniors Elyssa Albert and Alissa Ayres will be looked to for veteran leadership as they have been a part of two teams that qualified for the national championship already in their young careers.
The loss of senior Cara DiSanti will be felt, but she was the only loss on the female side for the Monarchs. Nearly the same can be said for the co-ed team, as only three Monarchs were lost to graduation. This year's team will be led by seniors Mike Collins and Bobby Noonan, junior Mike Brown and sophomore Kyle Rogachenko.
