NORFOLK, Va. - Head Coach Alan Dawson announced the signing of six more recruits for the 2007 season. The class will provide depth at the scoring positions as well as help solidify an already stellar defense. The six new recruits will join Ben Medina (Denver, Colo.), Harry Gillespie (Jensen Beach, Fla.), and Adam Roscioli (Jefferson Forest, Va.) to complete the 2007 class.

T.J. Beaulieu (Apex, NC) was an accomplished scorer in high school, becoming the second all-time goal scorer for Apex High School with 86 goals. He led his 2005 high school team to a 4A Championship and was named team MVP. In 2006 he was an All-Conference, All-South Region, and All-State selection as well as being named Conference and Regional Player of the Year. He also led his club team in scoring from 2004-07 while leading them to state cup championships in '02, '03, '04, and '07. The team won the NCYSA national championship in 2003.

Daniel Haywood (Spaldwick, England) will transfer in from High Point University. He had two goals and three assists for the Panthers last year including a goal against nationally ranked UNC. He also was named to the Big South All-Freshman team after leading the team in goals with six and tallying one assist his rookie season. Prior to High Point, Haywood was a five sports athlete in high school and was named the 2000 Sportsman of the Year in high school. He played for Cambridge United Youth team for four years.

Brennan Kirkpatrick (Shreveport, La.) was recruited as a goalkeeper for the Monarchs. He was named the 2007 All-District Team Overall MVP after leading the Vikings to the second round of the state playoffs. He made 195 saves his senior season and scored 21 goals. Kirkpatrick was a two-time member of the Shreveport times All-City Soccer Team. On his select team, he was a starter all nine seasons, playing up in four of those seasons and averaged 0.8 goals against. He also made the Louisiana State ODP team both years he tried out, rated in top four among 22 goalies at the 2005 Region III Camp.

Adrian LeRoy (Ottawa, Ontario) is a transfer from the University of Maine where he started 13 games for the Black Bears. He was named the 2006 University of Maine Scholar Athlete Rising Star. He also played at Carleton University, leading the team to an Ontario University Championship. He is an athletic defender that will provide depth in the backfield for Coach Dawson in 2008. He will redshirt in 2007 due to NCAA transfer restrictions.

Ollie Lutton (Shenley, England) played for Louisburg Junior College from 2005-06 and was named to the JUCO National All-Tournament team as well as being named NJCAA First Team All-American in 2006. He was named the Region X Player of the Year as Captain of the Louisburg Hurricanes. His experience and skill will make him an immediate factor in the Monarchs defense.

Trent Reid (Martinsburg, W.Va.) is another recruit that will be expected to add to the Monarchs scoring attack. He scored 105 career goals and had 26 assists, good for a career 3.12 scoring average per game. He is a two-time First Team All-State selection by WV High School Coaches, as well as a two-time First Team All-State selection by WV Sports Writers. He led his team to two straight state semi-final appearances and was team MVP and Captain. He played in the West Virginia State High School All-Star Game and was honored with the 2007 Distinguished Athlete Award presented by the United States Marine Corps and was named the 2005 Journal Player of the Year. A member of the National Honor Society and Student Council, Reid was also a member of the West Virginia Olympic Development Program.

The nine new recruits for the Monarchs will try to help get Old Dominion back into the NCAA Tournament for the sixth consecutive year. The Monarchs are coming off a season in which they had more success in the Tournament than ever before. The team reached the Round of 16 before being knocked off in a tight 2-1 defeat by eventual national champions UC-Santa Barbara.
