NORFOLK, VA--Old Dominion University senior catcher Tyler Belcher (Bristol, VA.) signed with the Florida Marlins as a free agent and will report toThe Jamestown Jammers in the New York - Penn League this weekend.
Belcher hit .307 with a team best 24 doubles which was three shy of the school record, and ranked second in the CAA. Belcher also hit three homers and 42 runs batted in as a senior. He had 20 multiple hit games this year highlighted by four in a game against Maryland-Eastern Shore. He also had ten multiple RBI games with four in a game against George Mason in leading theMonarchs to the top seed in the CAA tournament and a 35-24 overall record.
Belcher finished his career with 46 career doubles and a .302 career batting average.
