NORFOLK, VA-- The Colonial Athletic AssociationChampion Old Dominion Monarchs open play at theNCAA East Regional Thursday in Alpharetta, GA atthe Lakeside course of the Golf Club of Georgia.
ODU is the 18th seed. This is ODU's second tripto the NCAA's, the Monarchs placed 15th in 2003.

The top ten teams and two individuals will advance from eachof the three regional sits to the National Championshipsto be hosted by Virginia Commonwealth, May 30-June 2 atGolden Horseshoe Golf Club in Williamsburg, VA.
CAA Coach of the Year Murray Rudisill's Monarchs are led by CAARookie of the Year, freshman Eric Onesi (Bear, DE.) with a 72.3 stroke average; CAA Tournament champion, freshman John Murphy (WIlton, CT.)with a 72.6 stroke average; first team All-CAA selection StanGuerrero (Mexico) with a 72.5 stroke average; Sophomore MatthewWatson (Chesapeake, VA.) with a 73.9 average; freshman MatthewRendell (Reading, England) with a 73.5 average, along with BrandonDetwiler (Akron, PA.),74.3, and Jeff Long (Centreville, VA.), 72.7.
Onesi finished second at the CAA Championships, while Murphy wasnamed CAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player, Watson placedninth at the CAA's and Guerrero was sixth. During the season, ODUfinished fifth or better in eight tournaments and had top ten finishesin all 11. ODU won the William and Mary Joe Agee tournament andthe CAA title.
The University of Georgia is the top seed in this event, whilehost Georgia Tech is the fifth seed and Virginia Tech is the 16thseed.
