NORFOLK, VA--Sophomore lefthander Will Palmer (6-5)tosseda complete game four-hitter to lead the Panthers of Georgia State (24-27/13-13)to a 7-1 victory over Old Dominion (30-20/16-9) Saturday afternoon. Theloss along with VCU's 3-1 loss to Delaware keeps ODU tied with the Ramsfor first in the CAA. Delaware is one game back.

Palmer walked three and fanned two on the day for his first completegame of the season. He held the Monarchs scoreless until the ninth when AnthonyShawler tripled with two outs and scored on Tyler Belchers single.

Shawler pitched seven-plus innings in the loss with three walks and sevenstrikeouts along with three runs given up. He is now 9-2 with a 2.51 ERA.

After six scoreless innings between Shawler and Palmer, the Panthers'Bradley Logan led off the seventh with a walk. Kenny Camp then hit his secondhomerun of the season down the left field line for a 2-0 lead. In the eighth,ChaseChilders bunt single scored Matt Van Horn from third to make it 3-0.

Eric Suttle led Georgia State with three hits, while Jean Rochon-Salvas, MattVan Horn and Aeden McQueary each had two hits for the Panthers. Van Horn and KennyCamp both knocked in two runs each for Georgia State as well.

Tyler Belcher led ODU with two hits on the day. Sunday's home CAA series finale will have the Monarchs honoring their four seniors: Tyler Belcher, Mike Zahm, Hunter Hall and Nick Erdman prior to game time which is 1 p.m.
