NORFOLK, VA--The University of Delaware (15-18/8-9) eruptedfor five runs in the seventh highlighted by a two-run homer from Alex Buchholzto defeat Old Dominion (27-17/14-6), 12-9 in a CAA contest. After holdingDelaware to just one run in the first two games, the Fightn' Blue Hens slammedtwo homers and five doubles today.
Trailing 6-1, ODU scored seven runs in the bottom of the sixth to takean 8-6 lead thanks to a three-run bases clearing triple by Chris Keenan (Chesapeake, Va.). In the top of the seventh Ryan Jablonski reached on an error which scored bothDanny Overcash and Scott Shockley. Brandon Menchaca doubled to scoreJablonski and Alex Buchholz followed with his fifth homer of the season to give Delaware an 11-8.
Chris Keenan led ODU with three hits and three runs batted in and NickErdman also had three hits and one RBI. David Burns hit his eighth homer ofthe season, a solo shot in the seventh and Anthony Shawler slammed his fifth of the yearin the fourth inning.
Delaware was led by Alex Buchholz with three hits and three runs batted in.Adam Tsakonas had two this and three runs batted in, while Tsakonas and Ryan Jablonski each stored three times.
Davis Slovak pitched the last three innings of relief to pick up his sixthsave of the season. He allow only one hit and one walk with two strikeouts. ODUnow breaks for final exams before returning to the field May 4-6 for a CAASeries at George Mason.
