NORFOLK, Va. -- Senior forward Sherida Triggs (Norcross, Ga.) was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Co-Player of the Week as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.
Triggs averaged 17.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, and shot 60 percent from the field in a week which saw the Lady Monarchs capture the regular season title and the top seed at the CA A Women's Basketball Tournament.
In a 80-70 win over Georgia State, Triggs poured in a team-high 14 points and narrowly missed a double-double with nine rebounds. Additionally the fourth year Lady Monarch went a perfect 4-of-4 from the line. She followed with a season-high 20 points in a 79-56 victory at UNC-Wilmington. Once again Triggs narrowly missed a double-double with by hauling in nine boards. Triggs is averaged a team second-best 9.7 points per game and is tied for a team-high 6.0 rebounds per game.
The Lady Monarchs (21-8 overall, 17-1 CAA) will return to action at the CAA Women's Basketball Tournament at the Bob Carpenter Center on the campus of the University of Delaware. The top seeded Lady Monarchs will take on the winner of No. 8 Georgia State/No. 9 Drexel on Friday, March 9th at noon.
