HAMPTON, VA -- The Monarchs traveled just across the water to Hampton this weekend as they sailed in the MAISA/SAISA event at Strawberry Banks. The Old Dominion team finished third in both divisions, good for a third place finish with 91 points. Alan Alkins and Thomas O'Bryan were the skippers with Amanda Rendell and Sonya Mendoza as crew. The Monarchs finished behindthe College of Charleston and host Hampton University.
In Division A, Alkins and Rendell tallied 42 points by finishing in the top three in eight of the 12 races. They won the eleventh race and finished among the top five boats in 10 races.
In the Division B boat, O'Bryan and Mendoza matched the performance by the A division by totaling 49 points including just three races out of the top five boats. They finished second in four out of five races on day two of the event.
