ATLANTA, GA-- Junior guard Brian Henderson scored 11 points and every Monarch who played scored as ODU (18-7/11-3) defeated Georgia StateWednesday night, 68-55 in a CAA contest. It was the Monarchs sixthstraight win. ODU got 34 points from its bench.
The Panthers jumped out to a 15-4 lead with 13:26 left in the first half,but ODU rallied to tie the at 19 on Abdi Lidonde's free throws with 6:30left in the half.
ODU took the lead for good with 5:09 left on Marsharee Neely's jumperto make it 22-21. ODU led by three at the half, 29-26.
In the second half, the Monarchs took control with an 18-3 run tolead 47-29 as Brian Henderson scored six and Gerald Lee added five inthe stretch.
Gerald Lee finished with nine points, two blocked shots and five rebounds, while Abdi Lidonde hit for eight points. Valdas Vasyliuscame up with four steals and six rebounds and senior Drew Williamsonadded seven points and six assists.
ODU shot .418 from the floor, .500(13-26) in the second half. ODU'sdefense forced the Panthers into 16 turnovers.
Georgia State was led by Rashad Chase with 12 points and eight rebounds,while Leonard Mendez added 11 points and Ryan McBride had ten with sevenboards.
ODU returns to action on Saturday when they host VCU at 12 noon. Thegame is already a sellout, and will be shown in the Hampton Roads areaon WKSY channel 4.
