NORFOLK, VA--Old Dominion University sophomore pitcher Anthony Shawler(Chesapeake, VA-Oscar Smith HS) has been named Pitcher of the Week by the ColonialAthletic Association.
Shawler tossed a complete game one-hit shutout in ODU's 2-0 victory over Rutgers Sunday. Shawler fanned nine and walked only one batter. He is now 3-0 with a3.38 ERA. He also has 27 strikeouts in 22 innings of work.
Through 12 games, Mike Zahm leads ODU with a .467 batting average and 14 runs batted in. David Burns is at .349 with 12 RBI.
The Monarchs (6-6) host Radford Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m.
