WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) -Drew Williamson scored 20 points and Valdas Vasylius had 16 as Old Dominion took a second half lead and held off William and Mary for a 62-57 win on Saturday.
The Monarchs (23-7, 15-3 Colonial Athletic Association) used an 11-2 run at the start of the second half to go up by six.
The Tribe (15-14, 8-10) tied it at 53 with 3:09 remaining. But Old Dominion's Brandon Johnson came back with a 3-pointer and Vasylius then scored on a layup to put the Monarchs ahead by five.
A pair of free throws by both Vasylius and Brian Henderson kept Old Dominion in the lead in the closing minute. After getting an offensive rebound,Henderson was fouled and he hit both shots to give ODU a 62-57 leadwith 14 seconds left.
Johnson added 13 points, seven assists, four steals and eight rebounds for the Monarchs.
Nathan Mann scored 11 points for William and Mary, and Laimis Kisielius had 10.
As a team ODU outrebounded the Tribe, 38-35 as Brandon Johnson andVasylius each hauled down eight boards for ODU. Alex Smith ledW&M with seven. ODU came up with eight steals on the day, but the Monarchs shot .500 from behind the arch (12-24) while W&M was .393(11-28).ODU opens the CAA tournament next Saturday night at 6 p.m. as thenumber two seed.ODU will play the winner of the Towson-UNC Wilmingtongame.
