FARMVILLE, VA--Frank Berry and Jon Quigley doubled in two of Longwood's final three runs to lift the Lancers (7-2) to a 6-4 victory over Old Dominion (5-3) TuesdayAfternoon.
Longwood took a 2-0 lead after four innings, but the Monarchs tied the game withtwo in the sixth as Mike Zahm(Omaha, NE) doubled home Gerard Hall (Washington, DC.) and David Burns (Jacksonville, Fl.) later singled home Zahm.
The Lancers regained the lead in the bottom of the sixth, but the Monarchs tied itat three in the top of the seventh on Nick Erdman's sacrifice fly which plated AnthonyShawler. In the bottom of the seventh Quigley doubled in Tyler Ames to give Longwooda 4-3 lead. Later in the inning, Quigley would score on a wild pitch. Longwood addedanother in the eighth inning as Frank Berry doubled home Topher Ellis for a 6-3 lead.
The Monarchs plated one more run in the ninth as Erdman scored from thirdwith the bases loaded on Zahm's RBI fielders choice groundout with two outs.
Zahm along with Tyler Belcher each had two hits and freshman Gerard HallHad three hits. Zahm knocked in two runs for ODU. Tyler Ames led Longwood withthree hits. Ryan Rowe picked up the win and Frank Berry got the save. ODU returnsto action Wednesday with a 3 p.m. home game against the Spartans of Norfolk State.
