CONWAY, SC-- Sophomore righthander Bobby Gagg and reliever JoeyHaug combined for a two-hitter as Coastal Carolina (6-0) defeatedOld Dominion (4-2), 7-0 in the second round of the IMICHotel.com/CoastalCarolina Tournament Saturday.
The Monarchs two hits came in the second by senior Tyler Belcher (Bristol,VA.)and in the ninth by freshman shortstop Gerard Hall (Washington, DC.).
ODU committed four errors as only two of Coastal's runs were earned. The Chanticleers were led by David Sappelt and Dock DOyle who each had three hits on the day. Doyle scored three times.
Gagg (2-0)pitched eight innings, faning four with three walks and one hit. ODU'sBergh (1-1) pitched seven-plus allowing nine hits, three walks and two strikeouts.
The Monarchs finish the tournament on Sunday when they play the Universityof Pittsburgh at 11 am.
