NORFOLK, VA -- Red-shirt freshman Chris Brown was named Co-Rookie of the Week today by the Colonial Athletic Association for his efforts in all competition before December 4th. Brown is ranked 17th in the nation by Amateur Wrestling News as he has jumped to a quick 12-4 start.

The nationally ranked 157 pounder is the first Monarch to win the award since teammate Ryan Williams last February. Brown placed second at the Michigan State Open, third at Lock Haven's Mat Town and fourth at Cornell's Body Bar tournament, and leads the team in major decisions.

Brown has succeeded in winning 12 of his first 16 collegiate bouts, with all four losses coming to ranked opponents. Brown lost all four matches by a combined 7 points.

Chris Brown will respond to questions during a chat hosted by odusports.com on Thursday, December 7th. The chat is scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm as Brown will be joined by head coach Steve Martin.
