NORFOLK, VA-- Seniors Valdas Vasylius and DrewWilliamson each scored 17 points to lead theMonarchs (2-0) to a 69-61 victory over ArkansasState (0-2) in the second day of the Cox Classic.ODU will play Clemson Sunday at 4:30, andArkansas State will play Monmouth at 2:00.

ODU led by 13 at halftime, 38-25 and led by as manyas 17, 63-46 with 4:59 left in the game.Ryan Wedel hit a trey with 15 seconds left to cut itto the final margin of eight points.

Vasylius was 8 for 10 from the free throw line andhauled down six rebounds for the game high.Williamson, who scored a career high 19 last nightagainst Monmouth added 17 tonight with six steals andfour assists.

As a team, ODU came up with nine steals and forcedASU into 20 turnovers.

ASU was led by Adrian Banks with 20 points, followedby Ryan Wedel with 15 points and six assists.

Arkansas State lost two players to foul trouble inIsaac Wells and Kewain Gant.

ASU shot .584 from the floor, while ODU shot only411.

In game two, Clemson defeated Monmouth, 77-65. Monmouthled, 37-36 at halftime, but the Tigers took the lead forgood at 7:49 left, 58-57 on James Mays jumper. Mays andKC Rivers hit a total of ten free throws the last 2:16to put the game away.

Mays led Clemson with 19 points and nine rebounds. TrevorBooker and Cliff Hammonds had 12 each and Vernon Hamilton andKC Rivers scored ten each. Clemson shot .491 (28-57) fromthe floor.

Monmouth was led by Whitney Coleman with 17 and Dejan Delic with 18 points. Monmouth outrebounded Clemson, 36-27, but committed25 turnovers.
