NORFOLK, VA-- Old Dominion got goals from its top two scorers,Shavon Knight and Katie Watson to lead the Lady Monarchs (16-4) to a 2-1 victory overNortheaster (9-6-4) Monday night in the quarterfinals of the Colonial Athletic Association Women's tournament. ODU, the fourth seed will advance to Thursday nights match-up against top seed William and Mary at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex.
Knight put ODU on the board first after getting a pass from Watson nine minutesInto the match. Watson then made it 2-0 on an unassisted goal less than a minute into thesecond half. Watson now has 12 goals with five assists for 29 points, followed by Knight with 10 goals and five assists for 25 points.
Northeastern had some chances in the second half when Caitlin Whelan andLaura Johnson hit the post with 32 minutes left in the match. The Huskies scored withone second on the clock as Kristin Kowalik passed to Jenna Lucchese to the right of the box and she shot it into the lefthand corner.
Anne Petrofsky had three saves for Northeastern, while ODU's Lauren Tupman had two saves. ODU outshot the Huskies, 17-10. In the other CAA women's semi-final,JMU defeated VCU, 5-0.
