Elcock Scores Twice As No.24 ODU Defeats W&M On National TV

NORFOLK, VA--Senior Edson Elcock (Brooklyn, NY) scoredtwo first half goals to lead 24th ranked Old Dominion (12-4-1/7-3-1) to a 2-1victory over William and Mary (8-8-3/4-4-3) in a Colonial Athletic Associationmatch which was televised live on FoxSports Soccer Channel. A crowd of 1,553was on hand.

Elcock broke the 0-0 deadlock 20 minutes into the match when hebroke free for the first score. Five minutes later Ross Mackenzie (Midlothian, VA.) fed Elcock on a break and he pushed it passed the Tribe keeper to give the Monarchs a 2-0lead at halftime. Elcock now has ten goals with five assists for 25 points.

The Tribe cut into the lead with less than ten minutes remaining as Pat Scherder scored his ninth goal of the year on an assist from Doug Ernst for the Tribe. It wasErnst's ninth assist of the season. Both goalkeepers, Brennan Wergley (WM) andEvan Newton (ODU-Va.Beach) had four saves on the evening.

ODU will host a CAA quarterfinal match on Tuesday night, Oct. 31 againstan opponent to be named later. The CAA championship semi-finals and finals willbe at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex, Nov. 3 & 5.
