WILMINGTON, NC--Kelly Rnkein scored two second half goals inthe final 22 minutes of play to lead UNC Wilmington (12-4/7-2) to a 2-1CAA victory over the Lady Monarchs of Old Dominion (14-3/6-3). The twoteams came into the match tied for third.
ODU scored first thanks to a Seahawk miscue at 26 minutes into thefirst half. A UNCW defender trying to clear a shot, headed it into her ownnet. Renkin then tied the match with with 22:37 left on an assist from Nicole Smith.The game winner from Renkin was unassisted of a goal kick.
The Lady Monarchs outshot UNCW, 11-9 as Jamie Balzarini came upwith six saves for the Seahawks, and ODU's Lauren Tupman had two saves forODU. The Lady Monarchs return home on Sunday to take on Georgia Stateat 1 p.m. It will be senior day for the Lady Monarchs four seniors: Tracy Donachie(South Lanarkshire, Scotland), Heather Jones (Waldorf, MD.), Brittany Ransom(Woodbridge, VA.), and Heather Vaughan (Virginia Beach, Va.).
