NORFOLK, VA--Towson Junior forward Angus Burke scored two first half goals as Colonial Athletic Association leader Towson (11-1-2/7-0-1) defeated Old Dominion (10-3-1/5-2-1), 3-1 Sunday afternoon. The Monarchs ranked 13th by College Soccer News, 16th by Soccer America and 20th by NSCAA/adidas.
Five minutes into the match Burke received a pass from Andrew Marshall and Mosca Cisneros to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. Towson's second goal was an unassistedgoal by Jahani Raynor from about 15 yards away.
The Monarchs got on the board with about three minutes left in the half asJared Kent fed Trevor Banks who headed it in. ODU had another chance to tie, butT.J. Jager deflected Jared Kent's shot for the save. The Tigers then came right backand scored as Kevin Ruck passed to Andrew Marshall who fed Angus Burke forthe goal.
ODU outshot Towson, 26-15, but the Tigers made good on three of fiveshots on goal. ODU returns to action next Friday when they host UNC Wilmington.
