ODU Beats JMU On McKenzie's Two Goals, 2-1

NORFOLK, VA--Junior Forward Lisa McKenzie (Inverness, Scottland) scored two goals, the game winner coming with less than seven minutes left in the match as Old Dominion (12-1/4-1) Defeated James Madison (5-7-1/1-3-1), 2-1 in a CAA contest Sunday afternoon. The 12 wins is one shy of the school record set in 2000 (13-7-1)

Four minutes into the match, McKenzie scored on an unassisted goal to giveODU a 1-0 lead. With 31 minutes left in the match, JMU got the equalizer when NatalieEwell passed to Corky Julien who pushed it by the Lady Monarch keeper. The game winner came on a break a way as Jenni Purdum (Vienna, VA.) passed to McKenzie who's shot was deflected by JMU's keeper but trickled over the line for the score.

JMU outshot, the Lady Monarchs, 11-8 as sophomore keeper Colby Owen (Virginia Beach,VA.) had three saves in the first half and Sophomore Lauren Tupman (Virginia Beach, VA.) had a save in the second half. It was Tupman's first match back since injuring her foot in the Delaware game on Sept. 22. ODU returns to action Tuesday night at 7 p.m.when they host Virginia Commonwealth who shares the CAA lead with William and Mary.
