Van Nispen Nets Lone Goal In No. 3 Field Hockey's Win Over No. 17 James Madison

HARRISONBURG, Va. -- Sophomore Nico van Nispen (Bilthoven, Holland) captured third-ranked Old Dominion's lone goal it a 1-0 victory over #17 James Madison Friday night at the JMU Field Hockey complex.

The win gave the Lady Monarchs its seventh straight win as they improved to 10-1 overall and 2-0 in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). The shutout was also Old Dominion's third straight and fifth overall this season. James Madison fell to 6-5 in their CAA opener.

Van Nispen's goal came off a penalty corner with 7:13 left in the game. Senior Dana Sensenig (Denver, Pa.) and freshman Titia Beek (Heiloo, Holland) were credited with the assists.

Although Old Dominion scored only one goal, they controlled much of the offense as the Lady Monarchs outshot the Dukes, 14-2. Both James Madison shots came in the first half, with only Lauren Stefaniak's shot reaching net on penalty corner resulting in the lone save by Lady Monarch keeper Kelly Driscoll (West Chester, Pa.).

Old Dominion outcornered James Madison, 10-2.

The Lady Monarchs return home on Sunday, October 1st as they host Towson in CAA action at Foreman Field. It will be Old Dominion's first home game since its victory over #20 Michigan back on September 10th.
