NORFOLK, VA--Lisa McKenzie assisted on both Jana Pearson and Katie Watson's first half goals to lead the Lady Monarchs of Old Dominion (10-1/2-1) toa 2-1 Colonial Athletic Association victory over Northeastern (6-3-1/ 2-1) Friday night.
McKenzie stole a pass then hit Pearson on the run on a break-away for theLady Monarchs first goal just one minute into the match. Six minutes later McKenzie hitWatson in front of the box to give ODU a 2-0 lead.
The Huskies scored with five minutes remaining as CAA Rookie of the Week Sophia Palmquist assisted Laura Johnson off a corner to make it 2-1. Northeasternoutshot ODU, 14-12, but shots on goal were even at eight each. Sophomore goalkeeperColby Owen (Virginia Beach) had six saves on the night. ODU hosts Hofstra Sundayat 1 p.m., while Northeastern travels to William and Mary.
