Watson Scores Two As ODU Defeats Radford, 3-1

RADFORD, VA.--CAA Player of the Week Katie Watson (Woodbridge VA.)scored two second half goals to help the Lady Monarchs of Old Dominion (3-0) to a3-1 victory over Radford Friday night.

After a scoreless first half, the Highlanders took a 1-0 lead eight minutes into thesecond half on a goal by Lisa Channon. Beth Messier (Swansea, MA.) tied the matchwith an assist from Liza McKenzie (Inverness, Scotland) with 17 minutes remaining.

Watson put ODU up for good with a goal on a backheeled cross to the farpost on an assist from Janna Pearson (Haymarket, VA.) with 3:55 left. Watson sealedthe game with another goal 16 seconds later. She now has five goals in three games.

ODU outshot Radford, 23-10 and sophomore Lauren Tupman (Virginia Beach, Va.) had two saves on the evening. ODU returns home Sunday for a 1 p.m. contestagainst Fairleigh Dickinson.
