NORFOLK, VA-- The ODU Soccer Monarchs (0-1) travel to Kingston, RI toplay in the University of Rhode Island Tournament Friday and Sunday.
ODU, who lost to top ranked and defending national champion Marylandlast week in front of the largest crowd in ODU soccer stadium history (3,331) opens with Harvard(0-0) on Friday, then Rhode Island on Sunday (1-0).
Harvard was 6-8-2 last year and will be led by senior forward CharlesAltchek who scored 11 goals for the Crimson. Junior goalkeeper AdamHahn also returns.
Rhode Island is the defending Atlantic 10 champion who opened the seasonwith a 2-1 victory over Providence last week. Jeffrey Gonsalve and CallumBissett each scored for the Rams.
ODU and Rhode Island played last year in the Stihl Classic with theMonarchs winning, 1-0.
The Monarchs then travel to Elon for a match on Sept. 6 in Elon,NC.
