ELON, NC--Junior Katie Watson (Woodbridge, VA.) and sophomore Shavon Knight (Waldorf, MD.) each scored two goals to lead the Lady Monarchs of Old Dominion (2-0) to a 4-0 victory over the Phoenix of Elon (1-1) Sunday afternoon.
Watson put the first goal on the board after a steal 3:44 into the first half.Nine minutes later Watson gets a pass from Knight to make it 2-0 at halftime. WatsonScored the game winning goal Friday night against East Carolina. In thesecond half Shavon Knight scores on a break a way with an assist from Watson. With less than 27 minutes left in the match, Knight is fouled in the box and scores on a penaltykick.
ODU outshot Elon, 15-11 on the day as sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Tupman(Virginia Beach, VA.-Kellam) picked up here second straight shutout. She had six saves on the day. The Lady Monarchs return to action this weekend when they travel to Radford on Friday for a 7 p.m. contest, then return home on Sunday for a 1 p.m. match with Fairleigh Dickinson.
