NICE, France -- The Old Dominion women's basketball team played its first game overseas on Thursday evening handing Nice Dazure a 120-36 loss.
The Lady Monarchs held 38-7 first quarter lead, led 68-19 at the half, and enjoyed a 95-28 third quarter edge. Five Lady Monarchs reached double figures led by redshirt junior Tay Ransburg (Kansas City, Mo.) with 21. Juniors T.J. Jordan (Portsmouth, Va.) and Shahida Williams (Newark, N.J.)poured in 19, followed by senior Tish Lyons (Newport News, Va.) with 16, and sophomore Jazzmin Walters (Norfolk, Va.) with 12.
"We did a couple of real nice things this evening," commented head coach Wendy Larry after the game. "We had several great rebounding efforts, especially on the offensive glass."
Ransburg hauled in 14 boards, including 10 on the offensive end. Junior Megan Pym (Newfield, N.Y.) grabbed 11 in the victory.
All the Lady Monarchs saw game action and scored in the win. The starting line-up including Ransburg, Walters, Jordan, Wiliams, and senior Sherida Triggs (Norcross, Ga.). The second half of play saw Walters, Lyons, Triggs, Pym, and Lawona Davis (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) take the court.
