LAWRENCEVILLE - ODU Freshman starters Ryan Williams and David Mendoza were named to the 2005-06 CAA All-Rookie Wrestling Squad.
Williams, the 133 pounder from Cumberland, PA., lead the Monarch squad with 10 pins and recorded a 29-15 record during his 2005-06 campaign. He placed second at the CAA tournament, earning him a spot in the NCAA tournament. Williams also had three wins by major decision, and went 3-1 in the CAA.
Freshman 184 pounder from Wyomissing, PA., Mendoza wrapped up the 2005-06 season with a 15-12 record, and 5-1 in the CAA. He had one major decision and two wins by fall.
Williams and Mendoza join Greg Jensen of Drexel at 141, Mike Kessler of Rider at 149, Chris Wade of Binghamton at 157, Tyler Tisdell of George Mason at 165, Doug Umbehauer of Rider at 174, Jason Cook of Campbell at 197, and Jim Connors of Boston U. at heavyweight in the 2005-06 All-Rookie list.
