BRONX, NY - The no.15 Old Dominion Women's Sailing team finished in fifth place this weekend at the MAISA Women's Championships with 102 points. The event was hosted by the New York Maritime College, and the top five finishing teams qualified to represent MAISA in Charleston at the ICSA National Championships. No. 8 Navy took the first place spot with 61 points.

B division racing paved the way for the top five finish with a fourth place clinching 46 points for the pair Maureen Castruccio and Elyssa Albert. A division sailors Cara DiSanti and Alissa Ayers finished fifth with 56 points.

The entire weekend saw conditions of light southeasterly winds with periodic rain showers. There were 11 races sailed in each division on leeward/windward courses. This race marked the last regular season competition for the ODU Women's Sailing team.

The Lady Monarchs take to the water again May 24, at the College of Charleston for the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association Women's Sailing National Championships.
