NORFOLK, VA - The Old Dominion Sailing team opened up their spring campaign taking 11th place at the College of Charleston Women's Intersectional this weekend. ODU scored 221 points at the event; Yale took first place with 64 points.

Cara DiSanti (Seacliff, NY) and Alissa Ayers (Trenton, NJ) took 11th place in A division for the Monarchs, while Maureen Castruccio (Pleasanton, CA) paired with Elyssa Albert (Purcellville,VA) to take 12th place in B division. The sailors were racing in 420's.

The race consisted of 11 A and B division races, Gold Cup style, in 15-20 MPH southwest winds on Saturday with some large waves reported. Sunday's races suffered an hour of postponement due to strong, shifting winds out of the west and northwest. All in all there were no protests and two redress requests granted.

The Monarchs sailing team is back in action February 18th, as they travel to Annapolis, Maryland for the Navy Quad.
