TOWSON, Md. -- The Old Dominion women's basketball team captured a 69-56 victory over Towson University Sunday afternoon at the Towson Center in the lone regular season match-up between the two teams.

Junior Sherida Triggs (Norcross, Ga.) and senior Lawona Davis (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) each tallied a team-high 15 points as the Lady Monarchs upped their season mark to 10-7 and a perfect 8-0 in the Colonial Athletic Association.

Towson meanwhile falls to 7-11 overall and 2-7 in the conference. It was the sixth Tiger loss in a row and ninth straight to Old Dominion. Towson remains one of five teams in the CAA that have never fallen to the Lady Monarchs. The Tigers' Tierra Jackson led all scorers with 22 points going 10-of-16 from the field along with eight rebounds.

Old Dominion enjoyed a 37-28 lead at the intermission but needed to thwart a second half rally by the Tigers.

The Lady Monarchs' nine point half-time edge was whittled to four with 6:42 to play. However, Old Dominion used a quick 11-0 run from which Towson could not recover and went on to outscore the Tigers 21-12 over the final 5:40 of the game.

The Tigers have been the only CAA team to outrebound the Lady Monarchs this season holding a slight 32-31 advantage on the boards.

Old Dominion did manage one of their best shooting performances from the floor this season. The Lady Monarchs connected on 26-of-49 to end the afternoon shooting 53.1 percent.

The Lady Monarchs are home in four of their next five games. Old Dominion hosts Drexel on Friday night and take on Northeastern on Sunday in their first competition against the Huskies in CAA action.
