HAMPTON, VA - After the first day of competition at the Virginia Duals, Old Dominion's Wrestling Monarchs are 1-1, falling to Bloomsburg in the first round, and beating Virginia Tech in consolation.
ODU, now 0-3 all-time against the Huskies, fought hard in a match that came right down to the very last bout between the two heavyweights. The Monarchs fell to Bloomsburg 13-19.

Consolation Round:
In the second match of the day, ODU defeated Virginia Tech 30-15, the Monarchs are now 17-13 all-time against the Hokies. Freshman Bryan LaShomb faced former Great Bridge teammate Justin Staylor, and came out victorious by a 4-3 decision. David Mendoza and Adam Wright both beat their Hokie opponent by fall.

"I think we wrestled well," comments head coach Steve Martin, "We fought hard against Bloomsburg but came up short. I was disappointed but I think we rebounded well; we won some key matches against Virginia Tech, now we look forward to coming back tomorrow and putting together another good performance"
