NORFOLK, VA - Cara DiSanti (Seacliff, NY) and Jaclyn Finney (Hampton, VA) sail through foggy conditions to finish fifth place in A division with 41 points this past weekend at the MAISA Women's Championships held at the University of New York Maritime. Alissa Ayers (Trenton, NJ) and Elyssa Albert (Purcellville, VA) take 12th in B division with 73 points. Old Dominion women's sailing placed sixth overall in the regatta with 114 points.
The race began Saturday with four A division races and two B division races in light and variable winds with strong currents. The competition continued Sunday in thick morning fog. Conditions improved in the afternoon as a steady 15-20mph breeze settled in from the south giving the opportunity for three A division races and five B division races through Windward-Leeward courses. Each division completed seven races.
Navy placed first in the event with 52 points, scoring 24 points in A division and 28 points in B division.
